Pérez Arnal, lecturer at the master’s Degree Program in Biodigital Architecture
The UIC Master’s Degree Program in Biodigital Architecture was created in 2000 as a pioneering postgraduate program, the first that treated the subject of architecture from the biological and digital perspectives, and the first to provide systematic studios, workshops and seminars with the founders of digital organicism, the new cutting edge of the 21st century.
New technologies have given us new production possibilities (Data-Driven Production, CNC machines, 3D printers) that lead to new formulations of non-standard architecture based on genetic principles (variation, mutation, hybridization): New architecture for new possibilities.
“Genetic architectures, new bio & digital techniques, we’ve been given the conditions for a new architecture, that with the digital organicism has become the first avant-garde of the XXI century: definitely, science has beaten fiction. Today’s utopia is tomorrow’s reality (today is tomorrow!)”.
Alberto T. Estévez, master’s director.
On April 26th, and in the context of this master, BIM Academy’s Founder & CEO, Ignasi Pérez Arnal, will give a lecture on: Biodigital Design for a Biodigital Manufacturing. It is at 10 a.m. at ESARQ School of Architecture UIC Barcelona (Universitat Internacional de Catalunya). We hope to see you there!
